WACO’s Wearable Art Gala

I love a good collab and working with all of my partners to find super fun ways to elevate their events. But when someone from Ms. Tina’s team calls you to collab you get REALLY excited. In case you don’t know who Ms. Tina is, she would be none other than Beyonce’s mom. Enter all of the excited emojis here.

To make it even better, the event they wanted a CHALK SHOT booth for is supporting the launch of the non-proft WACO Theater Center in Los Angeles. The WACO Theater Center will be the home of Richard Lawson Studios, mentorship programs, mobile theater, stage productions and empowerment classes. As an artist, and growing up in a family of artists surrounding by artists, I could not be more excited for this venue and the goals it hopes to accomplish.

The event took place at the California African American Museum (CAAM) by my old stomping grounds, USC. The dress code was wearable art and people definitely showed up dressed to impress! The original fashions designs were beyond amazing.

We took a different approach for this booth and added gif technology to add an extra level of fun for the guests. For the art of the booth I highlighted the event’s beautifully designed logo and extended flower bunches throughout the backdrop boarders.

I love how the booth turned out and even more, how the outfits people were wearing popped against the background. It was a great event to be at and I hope this becomes an annual thing for KJI and our team.

Here are some of my favorite pics and outfits from the night:
